Lost tourist rescued in Ras Al Khaimah mountain

  DUBAI – A female tourist who got lost while trekking Ras Al Khaimah’s mountains has been rescued, according to Ras Al Khaimah Police. The woman lost her way as she trekked the mountains of Ghalila Valley, said Group Commander Saeed Al Yamahi. Rescuers on a helicopter scanned the area until they located her. She was in a state of exhaustion, Al Yamahi said. The police official said that the woman was given first aid before she was airlifted to the nearest hospital.

Police reminder to tourists

Meanwhile, commander Al Yamaha reminded trekkers and mountain climbers to learn the basics of rock climbing at an indoor facility before taking on the rugged mountains. He also urged climbers to inform authorities about their whereabouts, and to always bring a mobile phone or satellite phone with them.  ICA/Expat Media
