When Dubai-based Filipina entrepreneur Jonarose Limon-Remillosa started her journey in the beauty industry, she never imagined that her part-time hobby would blossom into a full-fledged business. Today, she is the face behind Madame J, her own skincare brand made in Korea that has found its way into beauty clinics across the UAE, empowering Filipinos and other expats with products tailored to their skin needs. In an exclusive interview with Expat Media, the CEO of Flawless Beauty General Trading shares how her passion for Korean skincare transformed into a thriving business, the secrets behind her skincare and perfume lines, and how she hopes to inspire other aspiring entrepreneurs.

A hobby turned business

"My journey began with a passion for Korean beauty skincare," Jonarose recalls. "What started as a side hustle quickly grew as I saw how much my fellow Filipinos embraced these products. This inspired me to create my own skincare brand—Madame J—specifically tailored to the unique needs and complexions of the Filipino community. We all deserve good-quality products at reasonable prices." Jonarose's love for Korean skincare stems from her own personal experience. "I discovered that most Koreans follow a strict standard when it comes to skincare. It's a skin-first philosophy—they believe skincare should be enjoyable and effective. I became a firm believer in its benefits, which led me to share this discovery with everyone." Her journey started in 2016 when she sourced products from Korean brand Somebymi. Within months, her online store grew, prompting her to open her first shop in Karama, Dubai, which later expanded in Al Ghurair, BurJuman, and Reef Mall. Korean skincare has taken the world by storm with its innovative formulations, natural ingredients, and commitment to skin health. From the iconic 10-step skincare routine to products designed to address every skin concern, Korean beauty brands have become synonymous with quality and results. Madame J capitalizes on these principles. "We use high-quality ingredients and curate each formulation to address specific skin concerns," Jonarose explains. "Our goal is to offer effective, personalized skincare that brings out the natural beauty in everyone."

The Madame J product line

Madame J's skincare range includes more than seven different products, all priced between Dh50 and Dh100—making high-quality Korean skincare accessible to more people. The line is available in several UAE beauty clinics, including Jamie Rose Aesthetic Clinic and Beauty Within by Khaye Aesthetic Clinic in Al Rigga, as well as Al Hana Modern Medical Center and Al Hana Pharmacy in Satwa. Apart from skincare, Jonarose has ventured into the world of perfumes with Scents by Madame J. "It started as giveaways, but the feedback was amazing," she says. "Our perfumes are 40 percent oil-based and can last up to three days. We even offer personalized scents with custom names—perfect for giveaways at events."

Overcoming challenges

Launching a business in Dubai wasn't easy. "The hardest part was taking the first step," Jonarose admits. "I had limited funds, and the uncertainty was overwhelming. But I remained strong-willed, confident, and prayerful. My faith and God's provision guided me through the tough times." Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs? "If you want to be successful, remember Proverbs 16:3: 'Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.' Step out of your comfort zone, take risks, and believe in yourself." She wants to share the same opportunity by offering resellers the chance to earn without capital. For Jonarose, Madame J is more than just a business—it's a platform for empowerment. "I hope my brand inspires fellow Filipinos to feel confident in their own skin and to take pride in using high-quality products made for them," she says. "I also want to encourage others to start their own businesses." As Korean skincare continues to dominate the global beauty market, Madame J stands out as a homegrown success story built on passion, perseverance, and a commitment to helping others achieve their best skin.
