UAE warns citizens of tsunami due to earthquake

The UAE Embassy in Manila has issued a warning, urging all citizens to take caution of a possible tsunami due to the magnitude 6.6 earthquake that struck off the coast of Viga in the Philippines on Tuesday (April 4). The earthquake's epicenter was located about 120 kilometers (74 miles) east of Viga and was 45 kilometers deep, according to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). Seismologists advised people to avoid the coast because it could produce waves as little as one meter (three feet) high. The embassy emphasizes the significance of adhering to the safety directives issued by the Philippine government. Residents are asked to call 0097180024 and 0097180044444 in case of an emergency. In 1990, nearly 2,000 people were killed in the northern Philippines by a magnitude 7.7 earthquake. KD/Expat Media ALSO READ: Magnitude 6.6 Philippine earthquake triggers tsunami warning
