Mahzooz draw: Car wash worker bags Dh10 million

A Nepalese car wash attendant has become the latest winner of Dh10 million through the Mahzooz draw. The 31-year-old Bharat BK said that his family's financial security is his top concern with his winnings. The Dubai-based car cleaner makes Dh1,300 per month. Watch his interview: Bharat's sole objective when he first arrived in Dubai three years ago was to earn enough money to help him continue the treatment of his 25-year-old brother who suffers from a brain tumor. His father works as a driver in India, and the father-son duo has been pitching in for the medical expenses. "My brother has been under treatment in New Delhi, India," he said. "During a surgery, he became paralysed and lost his hearing. This money will help me get him better care," he added. Bharat also wants to ensure the future of his two-year-old daughter and five-year-old son. The shy Nepali admits that the news about his windfall hasn’t fully sunk in. “Big prize, this one,” Bharat told Expatmedia.net on Wednesday (September 21). Bharat said he was watching the live draw as usual on Saturday night (September 17) when he saw all his numbers being announced. He was ecstatic and called his father, and then his wife to tell them about his big win. His winning numbers? He picked the numbers 27, which is his birthday; 16, the day he got married; and random numbers 31, 37 and 42. He has been playing Mahzooz in the last two years. Cleaning other people’s car for a living, Bharat said he has no plans of splurging on a new car just yet, even if he now has enough money to buy his own. He also has no plans of quitting his job in the car wash company in Dubai. However, he will definitely plan a much needed vacation to Nepal to see his family.
