The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has announced the expansion of the Make it in the Emirates Awards, now entering its third edition with five new categories, recognizing excellence in the UAE’s growing industrial sector. This year’s edition brings the total number of award categories to 15, covering a wide range of contributions to the nation’s industrial and manufacturing landscape. These awards fall under five key pillars: In-Country Value, Factory of the Future, Industry Enablers and Strategic Partners, Leadership and Talent, and Handcrafts. For the first time, handcrafts will be recognized as an official category, a move that aims to promote local heritage, craftsmanship, and artisanal talent in the UAE. Nominations can be submitted via the official awards website miiteawards.moiat.gov.ae. The nomination period runs from February 11 to April 21, with winners set to be honored at the fourth edition of the Make it in the Emirates Forum on May 19 at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi. The high-profile event will be attended by senior government officials, industry leaders, investors, and funding bodies. MoIAT emphasized that the awards play a crucial role in fostering a competitive and innovative industrial environment, encouraging companies to adopt cutting-edge technologies and best practices. “The Make it in the Emirates Awards are designed to showcase and celebrate excellence in the industrial sector,” a ministry spokesperson said. “We are excited to expand this year’s categories, including a special focus on handcrafts, to highlight the UAE’s cultural heritage and craftsmanship.” A rigorous evaluation process will be conducted to ensure transparency and fairness, with an expert committee assessing nominees based on each category’s specific criteria. The expansion of the awards comes as part of the UAE’s broader strategy to position itself as a global hub for industrial innovation and sustainability. ICA/Expat Media
