Make sure your cooking gas cylinder in Dubai has this

DUBAI - If you're buying a cooking gas cylinder in Dubai, there are two things you need to watch out for, authorities said. Emirates Gas on Sunday said all LPG cylinders in Dubai should have a new shrink-wrapped identification seal on their valves. The new seals feature a holographic tear-off red strip that features logos of either Emirates Gas (Emgas) or Emarat. Cyclinders with this seal have passed safety checks. Requiring seals on cyclinders will also discourage unlicensed individuals or companies from refilling the tanks and reselling them, which poses as a safety hazard to consumers. "We encourage all customers to ensure that the plastic seal with the hologram is cut open in the presence of an authorised distributor representative," said Abdul Rahman Qassim Al Ali, Executive Director of Commercial Sales Department at Emirates General Petroleum Corporation. Al Ali also urged customers to request for a VAT invoice for LPG cylinder purchases "in compliance with the law and to follow up on service queries or complaints.” There are more than 50 distributors of LPG cylinders in Dubai.
