A 34-year-old Asian man has been jailed in Dubai after he broke into an apartment in a neighbouring building and attempted to rape a woman in her bedroom. The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld the lower court’s verdict sentencing the man to three months in jail, followed by deportation. Details about the man's identity and nationality have been withheld. According to Dubai Police records, the Asian woman was sleeping in her room when she was awakened by someone touching her feet. Her screams woke up her roommate. The women then spotted the intruder in their room. The woman’s roommate was able to call security and take a video of the intruder before he fled from their apartment. Investigation revealed that the man is a worker who lives in a building opposite to where the women live. The security guard at the building was also able to identify him. During police interrogation, the man said he has no recollection of breaking into the apartment and attempting to rape the woman, claiming that he was drunk at the time. ICA/Expat Media
