Man ordered to return daughter he kidnapped from Kazakhstan to Dubai

  DUBAI – A Kazahstan man who has kidnapped his five-year-old daughter and brought her to Dubai has been ordered to return the child to her mother. At the Dubai Personal Status Court, the man had filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife to seek custody of their daughter. The court ruled that the case was out of its jurisdiction and ordered the man to return his daughter to her mother as earlier ruled by a court in Tashkent. The Kazakhstan couple was married in 2010 before they divorced in 2014. On the same year, the court granted the woman custody of their daughter. The husband appealed the verdict at a Taskhent court but lost. In Dubai, the woman’s lawyer said that she signed an agreement allowing the father to see and travel with their daughter, but that the father took advantage of her trust by taking the child to Dubai in 2015 and never returning to Kazakhstan. “We provided the court with correspondence between our client and her ex-husband, begging to see her daughter or even hear her voice and how he manipulated that and played with her motherly feelings by telling her to come to Dubai, when she couldn’t due to her pregnancy and sent her father instead, the husband left him waiting for hours then never showed up,” said lawyer Haasan Elhais.
