Man homeless after throwing bag of cash in Sharjah garbage bin

DUBAI - A former manager for a company in Ras Al Khaimah is reportedly facing a "lifetime of regret" after he accidentally threw a bag of money into a garbage bin in Sharjah. The bag contained Dh105,439 that belonged to his company.   That single mistake caused a ripple of tragic events that left Abdul Wahab jobless, homeless and broke in Ras Al Khaimah, according to XPRESS tabloid.   Wahab, 32, said the incident happened in 2015, after he stopped his car near a garbage bin in Sharjah's Al Nahda area to throw trash that he accumulated in the vehicle. "By mistake, along with the trash, I also threw the bag which contained the cash. When I realised the mistake a few hours later I rushed back and rummaged through the dumpster but it was too late. The money was gone,” Wahab said. “A moment of neglect is a lifetime of regret. Who would know this better than me,” he said. He was fired from his job and his company deposited a security cheque for Dh105,439 that he gave, weighing him down with a huge liability. Wahab said that he struggled to make ends meet, and when he could no longer pay the rent, the landlord evicted him. He was forced to sleep in a car before being arrested for defaulting on a bank loan. He spent two months in jail. Wahab said he is now "living on the edge" and survives on a packet of noodles that he rations so it would last him for a few days.
