Stewardess molestation case: Man on trial in Dubai

  DUBAI – “I did not touch her and I did not assault her,” a Romanian man accused of trespassing into a villa and molesting a British stewardess said at his trial at the Dubai Court of First Instance. “I went to the villa to ask them to leave,” the Romanian told prosecutors on Sunday (June 26), denying accusations that he molested and assaulted the stewardess in the villa that he leased to her, and threatened her mother. The British woman testified in court that the Romanian had started befriending her two months after she moved in the residence in Mirdif. “He constantly praised my beauty and he once invited me over to stay at a private flat that he said he owned,” she told the court. At the time of the alleged molestation incident, the Romanian was said to have appeared on the front door of the woman’s villa “wearing only a pair of shorts”. “Suddenly he hugged me and groped my top and said ‘I miss you’ twice,” she told the court. “I pushed him away from me. When he pushed me back, I fell down on the ground, injured my shoulder. When I asked him to leave the villa, he shouted back saying ‘I will kick you out’,” she said. Her mother was injured in the commotion. The Briton’s mother testified in court that the Romanian defendant threatened to break her leg when she tried to protect her daughter. A ruling will be heard on July 24.
