Manila is the world’s leading city destination in 2023, according to the World Travel Awards in Dubai. The Philippine city bested 22 other cities around the world, including Dubai, Las Vegas and New York. The award ceremony was held on December 1 at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. According to the Manila Public Information Office, this is a “first for the capital city” and the first time that the country has won a major award. The Philippines also won World's Leading Beach Destination 2023, World's Leading Dive Destination 2023, Global Tourism Resilience, and World's Leading Dive Resort 2023 with Amanpulo. Check the full list of awards here  The awards “reinforce position as an unparalleled destination,” said Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco. Manila boasts of rich art and culture, with Chinese, Spanish, and American influences in its architecture, cuisine and art. One of its most popular tourist spots is the Walled City called Intramuros, known for its colonial-style villas and churches. The bustling bayside city is also home to modern skyscrapers. Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards has put the spotlight on excellence of worldwide destinations across travel, tourism and hospitality industries. ICA/Expat Media
