Poll also shows most workers will look for better job opportunities online

  DUBAI – A big number of professionals in the UAE are on the lookout for a new job this year, according to a poll conducted by Bayt.com. The Career Prospects in the Middle East survey showed that out of 230 respondents polled in the UAE, 98.26 percent said they are eyeing a career shift and the sentiment is shared also by respondents from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Bayt.com vice president for employer solutions Suhail Masri said "it is evident that job seekers in the UAE are determined and inspired to seek more career opportunities and better professional development strategies." The Bayt.com survey also showed that 53.2 percent of the respondents said they will look for career opportunities online and through other methods, while 29.8 percent will use online job sites exclusively. Only a few will use company websites, personal networks or social media in looking for work. Sanjay Modi, managing director at Monster.com for APAC and the Middle East, said the movement of employees and employee talent gaps would create more opportunities and tougher competition for new jobs among job applicants so that it would be important for job seekers to be noticed.

*68.2 percent of MENA workers have set their career goals this year. *88.5 percent of the respondents feel they will likely achieve their job goals in 2017. *Nine out of 10 job professionals in the MENA region said they will have more job responsibilities this year. *Location-wise, 87.2 percent preferred to work in the GCC region.
