Marburg virus: Dubai’s Emirates issues advisory for passengers arriving in Oman

Dubai-based airline Emirates has issued an advisory for travelers arriving in Oman following an outbreak of the Marburg virus in Tanzania and Guinea. According to Emirates, the Oman government has advised that travelers arriving in the country and who have travelled to Marburg-hit countries “must isolate themselves and seek immediate assistance if they feel unwell within 21 days of travel.” Among the affected destinations that were identified are Tanzania and Guinea. The Oman Civil Aviation Authority gave a directive to all airlines to issue the travel advisory, according to Emirates. "Reports about Marburg virus are closely monitored, including the latest guidance from relevant health authorities," according to Emirates. The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention also issued a similar advisory recently, advising travelers arriving from Tanzania and Guinea to isolate as soon as they reach the UAE. “Those who travelled to the affected areas should inform medical staff that they have been to an area where the Marburg virus disease is spreading or have been in contact with infected individuals,” according to the ministry in a statement.
