Actress and singer Maris Racal made a recent appearance on It’s Showtime to promote her upcoming film Sosyal Climbers, which will be available on Netflix starting February 27. However, fans quickly noticed that she avoided mentioning her co-star, Anthony Jennings, throughout the segment on February 5. Racal’s silence on Jennings did not go unnoticed, especially given their recent involvement in a cheating scandal that made headlines. The controversy erupted when Jennings’ then-girlfriend shared screenshots of alleged conversations between him and Racal, prompting public backlash. Both actors later issued public apologies regarding the incident. During her It’s Showtime guesting, Racal encouraged viewers to watch the film but omitted Jennings’ name in her remarks. She also did not reference him at any point during the show. Adding to the awkwardness, host Vice Ganda jokingly called Racal by the name “Buneng,” referring to her character in And The Breadwinner Is, another film where she starred alongside Jennings. The host’s playful jab prompted laughter from the audience, though Racal remained composed. During the segment, Racal also took a moment to apologize to Vice Ganda for not being able to actively promote their Metro Manila Film Festival entry And The Breadwinner Is amid the scandal. Vice Ganda responded warmly in Filipino: “It’s okay, Buneng. You are more important than the movie.” Despite the controversy, Racal continues to focus on her career, with Sosyal Climbers being her latest project to hit the global streaming platform Netflix.
