Maritoni Fernandez speaks out after sister is shot dead in Quezon City

  MANILA - Actress Maritoni Fernandez on Tuesday (September 13) issued a statement asking for privacy after an unidentified gunman onboard a silver Toyota Fortuner shot dead her sister and dumped her body on the roadside in Quezon City on Saturday night. "We ask the public at this time to respect our need for privacy so that we may continue to heal in our own way," she said in response to queries on the circumstances surrounding the death of Ma. Aurora Moynihan. "During this time, we will give due diligence to the investigation process by not making any further statements that may jeopardize the integrity of this inquiry," she added. Moynihan, 45, was found dead in Temple Drive corner Giraffe Street in Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City on Saturday night. Police said she sustained five gunshot wounds to the chest area. Quezon City Police District director Senior Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar identified the victim, who was a suspected supplier of ecstacy and other party drugs to celebrities. Police recovered from Moynihan’s bag a few sachets of methamphetamine (shabu) and drug paraphernalia, including four pieces of aluminum foil, two improvised glass tooters and three improvised lamps. Police also recovered a mobile phone, which they will use to look for leads to the killing. Next to her body lay a piece of cardboard with the words, “DRUG PUSHER ng mga Celebrities KASUNOD na KAYO! (Drug pusher for celebrities. You are next!).”

Fernandez on Tuesday said her family's priority is to take care of Moynihan's children. "We as a family have one priority and truth at this point in time and that is to protect her children from further pain and suffering so that they, and we as a family may take this time to grieve, mourn but most of all celebrate the life of this exceptional human being I will forever have the privilege of calling my sister," the actress said.
