Meet Dubai Airport’s one billionth passenger

DUBAI – A ten-year-old boy from Florida celebrated his birthday in Dubai in cloud nine: he was named Dubai Airport’s one billionth passenger. Arjun Jayaraman arrived in Dubai on flight EK220 from Orlando with his parents and brother. They met Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saaed, president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and CEO and chairman of Emirates Group, who told them Jayaraman was the airport’s one billionth passenger. To celebrate the occasion, Jayaraman was given an “all expenses” paid tour with family in Dubai, which included visits to the Burj Khalifa, Dubai Museum, a desert safari and Dh10,000 to spend at the Dubai Mall. Jayaraman and his family were also booked at Atlantis, The Palm and given a personal chauffer to drive them around Dubai in a Tesla Model X. “The best part of the trip was going to the top of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, I got a little scared I was up so high but it was still really cool,” he said. On his 10th birthday on Sunday, Jayaraman and his family went on a desert safari where he got “loads of cool presents”, including some Disney gifts.
