A Dubai couple has created a niche in the UAE’s watch space with a homegrown timepiece: the D&R Pure Jewels watches. The watches are the brainchild of Rami and Donna Hajjar, brought together by their shared love for unique timepieces and jewellery. “The word ‘dream’ is a big one, but I have always made my dreams a reality,” says Rami, the CEO of D&R Pure Jewels. He runs the business with his wife, Donna. Rami had always dreamt of producing unique timepieces that he hopes will become vintage treasures one day. D&R Pure watches combine craftsmanship, functionality and style, using materials like stainless steel and gold. The watch face has unique features, including a day-night display. An open back case reveals the mechanical movement inside. Rami says the specially crafted timepieces remind him of his formative years. The Armenian businessman developed his eye for detail while working with his father at his workshop for manufacturing car parts. Rami got inspired to dream big. Growing up, he also developed a penchant for technology and learned computer programming and design. Rami set up D&R Pure Jewels with a minimal investment of $1,000 in 2015. With the help of his wife and partner Donna, Rami started with selling jewellery online. Business took off, and the next year, they launched D&R Pure Jewels as an online retailer of jewellery and watches. It didn’t take long for the duo to launch their own brand of watches made in Armenia. Rami shares that he hopes to see their market expand further in Asia and Africa. His Filipina wife and partner, Donna, is working to expand their jewellery line, too. The pieces are made of affordable yet quality 18k gold. “Gold has always been one of the best investments that anyone can have,” Carillo tells Expat Media “Our gold items are investments with unique designs.” Designs range from classic to trendy. Donna and Rami want to make D&R Pure Jewels the go-to wearable investment for UAE residents. “We set a goal for ourselves that someday we will make it our legacy,” Donna says.
