Meet new Indian Consul General in Dubai

  DUBAI - Indian expatriates in the UAE have a new public servant in Vipul, the new Consul General of India in Dubai. Vipul, who uses only his first name, assumed office on Sunday. He succeeds Anurag Bhushan, who returned to New Delhi to take up assignment at the headquarters. Using the Indian Consulate in Dubai's twitter account, Vipul said he looked forward to pushing for the welfare of the Indian community in the country and contributing to India-UAE relations. Prior to assuming his new post in Dubai, Vipul was a joint secretary at the office of India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj where he worked for the past three years. He also served in India's diplomatic missions in Cairo, Colombo and Geneva. Vipul graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and holds an MBA from Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He is fluent in Arabic, according to the consulate website. The new consul general is married to Kirti and they have a four-year-old daughter.
