  DUBAI – As the UAE ushered in the new year with fireworks, some families celebrated in hospitals to welcome the first babies born in the emirates in 2020. Let's take a look at the newborns of the new year: 12 am, Abu Dhabi Syrian national Romeo Sheha with baby boy Joseph, who was born in Bareen International Hospital, Abu Dhabi. At exactly the stroke of midnight on January 1, baby boy Joseph was born in Bareen International Hospital in Abu Dhabi. The cute baby is certainly the best New Year’s gift for his Syrian parents, Romeo Sheha and Sally Hanna Habib.
12 am, Ras Al Khaimah Salem Mubarak and Salma Esmaeel Mubarak with baby Khalifa. Baby boy Khalifa was the first baby to welcome 2020 in Ras Al Khaimah’s RAK Hospital just minutes after midnight. Parents Salem Mubarak and Salma Esmaeel Mubarak said they named him after the UAE’s President and consider baby Khalifa a blessing.
