Meta plans to shut down its video-calling smart display 'Portal' and two unreleased smartwatches as it laid off 11,000 staff. Reports say that the tech giant has also canceled plans to sell Portal video calling gear and two other smartwatches. The tech giant has also dropped its plans to offer Portal video calling hardware to other businesses and the other two smartwatches in the early and intermediate stages of development. The most advanced smartwatch, code-named 'Milan,' was supposed to launch in spring 2023 for $349 got postponed in June. Meta also announced plans to debut a new VR headset next year. Mark Zuckerberg, Meta's founder and CEO said the new high-end VR gear would integrate virtual items into the physical surroundings. BKM/ Expat Media
