Maxine Medina, boyfriend to go on vacation

  MANILA – Miss Philippine Maxine Medina told her critics to "move on" and for everyone to be proud that history was made with the holding of the 65th Miss Universe pageant in the Philippines for the third time yesterday. Miss France Iris Mittenaere was crowned as the successor of Pia Alonzo Wurtzback of the Philippines at the end of the three-hour pageant that took place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila. Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier was 1st runner-up while Andrea Tovar of Colombia was 2nd runner-up. Medina reached the top 6 in the competition. Medina said she is happy over her performance in the pageant. "I'm good. I'm happy that at least I am in the Top 6. I did my best," she said as she expressed gratitude to all Filipinos for supporting her. Commenting about those who criticized her answer during the question and answer portion of the pageant after the top 6 finalists were announced, Medina said: "Well, let's move on. It's already done. Let's have fun. At least Top 6 and Miss Universe happened here in the Philippines. It's history." Medina was asked "what is the most significant change you've seen in the world in the last 10 years?" to which she replied: "The last 10 years of being here in the world is that I saw all the people being in one event like this in Miss Universe, and it's something big to us that we are one, as one nation, we are all together. There was an interpreter nearby when pageant host Steve Harvey posed the question after which the interpreter delivered the same question in Filipino. Medina however chose to answer in English. Meanwhile, Medina's boyfriend, model Marx Topacio, said they will be taking a well-deserved vacation now that the pageant is done and over with. Topacio said he and Medina will now have more time to travel again. Topacio and Medina would often travel to different places before Medina joined the Binibining Pilipinas (Miss Philippines) pageant.
