Party attended by pageant organization officials, members of Philippine host committee

  MANILA - Candidates who will compete in the 2016 Miss Universe to be held here on January 29 next year have started arriving in the Philippine capital for the kick-off party of the pageant. Philippine tourism officials and members of the Philippine host committee, Miss Universe Organization (MUO) president Paula Shugart, Rebecca Glassman of the MUO, and reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines led the kick-off event held at the S Maison Mall of Conrad Hotel. Those who arrived in the country last Friday and Saturday were Miss USA Deshauna Barber, Miss China Li Zhenying, Miss Indonesia Kezia Warouw, Miss Myanmar Htet Htet Htun, Miss Malaysia Kiran Jassal, Miss Vietnam Dang Thi Le Hang, Miss Japan Sari Nazakawa, Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane, Miss Korea Jenny Kim, Miss Australia Caris Tiivel and Miss New Zealand Tania Pauline Dawson. Miss Philippines Maxine Medina joined her fellow candidates in the kick-off event. The ladies will stay in the country for a week and tour the Philippines. They will also meet with President Rodrigo Duterte. They will then go back to their respective countries and come back in the second week of January for the official start of the pageant, the preliminary competition and related events. This is third time that the Philippines is hosting the most prestigious pageant in the world.
