The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) is now fully owned by a Thai transgender woman whose media and content conglomerate JKN Global Group bought the popular beauty contest, it was announced on Wednesday (October 26). JKN’s billionaire CEO Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip is now the new owner of Miss Universe Organization after her company bought it from IMG Worldwide for $20 million. IMG first acquired the Miss Universe Organization from the group of former US president Donald Trump in 2015. According to JKN, it expects to generate income though broadcasting fee, merchandising, licensing fee and ticket sales from Miss Universe. The company added that owning Miss Universe will help the Thai company “be a soft power to build a reputation for Thailand to be known and outstanding around the world”.
