Missing farm worker found murdered in Dubai

DUBAI - An Asian worker reported missing six months ago has been found murdered and dumped in a deep hole near a farm in Dubai, a Dubai Police official said. Police did not reveal details about the victim's identity but said that his employer reported him missing in June. Police gathered evidence from the man's room in the farm, including his mobile phone and other belongings. Following investigation, another worker in the farm became the primary suspect after police found out that he left the UAE on the same day his colleague went missing, said Lieutenant-Colonel Ahmad Hameed Al Merri, director of the Crime Scene Department in Dubai Police. Al Merri said that the farm worker told his employer that he needed to go back to his home country to attend to his ailing mother. Police operatives were sent to the farm worker's home country to interrogate him. The suspect confessed to killing his colleague over tribal disputes, Al Merri said. With information from the suspect, police were able to locate the victim's body buried in a deep hole near the farm. Animal waste was dumped on top of the corpse to mask any decomposing smell, police said. Forensic experts also confirmed that the victim died with a blow to the back of his head using a heavy tool. The murder suspect is currently under custody in his home country.
