MMI removes 30% tax, license fee on alcoholic beverages across Dubai
Maritime & Mercantile International (MMI) has eliminated the 30% municipality tax on all alcoholic beverages and the personal liquor license charge from its 21 Dubai locations. These changes follow Dubai's government rules on purchasing and consuming alcoholic beverages in the city. Personal liquor licenses will be free for people who can lawfully purchase alcoholic beverages in Dubai from January 1, 2023. Applicants will still need a valid Emirates ID or, for tourists, a passport. The application can be made at any MMI location. MMI currently has 21 outlets in accessible locations across Dubai, including Dubai Hills Mall, Dubai Harbour, Town Square, and Jumeirah Golf Estates, with a portfolio of over 2,000 products. It features a vast catalog of wine labels worldwide and a comprehensive range of world-class brands across all categories of beers and spirits. To drink lawfully in the UAE, a person must be at least 21 years old, and alcohol can only be consumed privately or in licensed public locations.
