Woman hangs off edge of the roof of the 306-meter-tall Cayan Tower; video of stunt posted online, goes viral

  DUBAI – The developer of the Cayan Tower is going to file charges against a Russian model and her companions for a daredevil stunt atop the 306-meter tall skyscraper. A video of the death-defying stunt wherein the model hung off the edge of the roof of the tower was posted online and has gone viral. Cayan Group said the 23-year-old Russian model Viki Odintcova and her companions did not have permission to do the stunt on Thursday and it was also done without safety equipment.
The police are looking into the case. Major General Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, assistant to the Dubai police chief for criminal investigation affairs, said persons who perform stunts on top of skyscrapers without permission of the government face prosecution for endangering other people's lives since they could fall onto a pedestrian below. Gizel Daher, marketing and communications director of Cayan Group, said: "Although the Cayan Tower has been periodically used for extreme sports events, in all cases, there has been safety, security, and emergency services on site." "We have a process of selecting trained professionals skilled at their craft, especially for these high-risk, life-threatening events, and carry out a strict review of the safety measures and backup safety measures before approving the event," Daher said.
