The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation’s (MOHRE) humanitarian campaign “From UAE With Love” has been awarded Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Year for its wide-reaching impact and overwhelming public support. Launched in March 2018, the initiative was created to encourage UAE residents to donate gift boxes filled with toys, letters, and items for underprivileged children in Syria and around the world. The main event was held at City Centre Mirdif from March 17 to 19, drawing more than 2,000 residents on its opening day. Additional donation points were set up in schools across the UAE. An Emirati woman, who declined to be named, was seen wheeling in a trolley full of toy boxes. “I’m happy to share a bit of joy with children who need happiness the most,” she told expatmedia.net. The campaign resonated especially with young donors. At Leaders Private School in Sharjah, over 500 students contributed personalized boxes. “This shows how children in the UAE care for their neighbouring countries. I hope the condition of people will become better by this small help from us,” said school principal Rafia Zafar Ali. Nord Anglia International School Dubai went above and beyond, collecting over 1,500 boxes. “As we begin to put the needs of others before ourselves, we start to learn how much more we can achieve. This act of giving is witness to our commitment… for a world with no poverty,” said principal Mathew Farthing. The donated boxes were distributed to children in Syria by the UAE Red Crescent. “Through each box, many children around the world will find hope and happiness, and at the same time it will show the world the generous qualities of the people in the UAE,” said Suhail Albastaki, Happiness & Marketing Director of Union Coop. Maha Kanoo, Head of Marketing, Admin & HR at The Kanoo Group, added, “This gift-giving initiative inspires new means to spread the spirit of philanthropy while making donations easy and accessible. This is just one of the great ways we can support our communities.” Expat Media, who served as event and marketing management company for the event, received a special recognition award from MOHRE for Outstanding Media Services during the campaign. Sponsors of the initiative included City Centre Mirdif, Union Cooperative Society, Nord Anglia International School Dubai, Leaders Private School Sharjah, The Kanoo Group, Karji Group, Brandsbay.com, Ultimate Productions, Touch of Oud, and Hot Palayok.
