Monster fog looms over Dubai, some parts of UAE
Residents of UAE awoke on Friday morning to a massive fog that had blanketed the country. Several advisories have been issued for various regions of UAE by the National Centre of Meteorology. The fog has significantly reduced road visibility. Authorities and the police have issued a warning urging drivers to drive carefully. The Abu Dhabi Police has also advised drivers to abide by the shifting speed limits indicated on electronic information boards. In its September climate report, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) predicted that temperatures would start to fall this month, especially at night. According to the NCM forecast, the Indian monsoon depression is gradually decreasing, resulting in desert thermal lows over the Arabian Peninsula. “There remains a chance of the formation of Cumulonimbus clouds associated with rain and thunder in the eastern parts of the county. These may extend to internal areas, causing rain at different intensities,” says the NCM report.
