What started as a tiny Filipino food kiosk has now become one of Sharjah’s most beloved culinary destinations. Naderang Restaurant, popular for serving authentic Kapampangan dishes, celebrated its 6th anniversary on Saturday (October 4) with a nostalgic treat: classic Filipino street food for just Dh6. The one-day deal is available every Monday, and has drawn foodies from across the emirates for a taste of their goto, arroz caldo, tokwa, lumpiang gulay, tokneneng, isaw, lumpiang shanghai, adidas, fried baga, and Filipino desserts like gulaman, iskrambol, and mais con yelo. The promotion, available for dine-in and takeaway, is the restaurant’s way of thanking its loyal customers who have supported its journey from a humble beginning to a community favorite.

From kiosk to family venture

Owner Liberty Samonte Galang recalled that Naderang Restaurant started as a small kiosk in Sharjah, selling Filipino snacks. “My mother, a foodie who I consider a culinary genius from Pampanga, helped create the dishes we serve. We made sure our food was cooked with her high standards,” Galang told Expat Media. She shared how, in the early days, their snacks were so popular they would sell out before noon. “That’s when we knew we hit the right demand for Filipino food, particularly in Sharjah where there are few Filipino restaurants,” she said. From that spark of success, the family worked together to grow the business. Today, Naderang is run as a family affair: Galang’s husband, a professional chef, heads the kitchen; her mother remains the co-founder and guiding inspiration; and her father serves as operations manager. “It was a dream built on hard work, and the dream grew with us,” Galang said.

Big meals, small prices

To mark its milestone year, Naderang Restaurant is also introducing group meals through October, November, and December. These hearty spreads can serve up to 10 people, with prices starting at Dh309. Options include trays of Filipino staples like spaghetti, grilled chicken, beef mushroom, chop suey, palabok, sisig, kare-kare, seafood thermidor, and more. For those craving sizzling dishes, the restaurant also offers baby back ribs, bulalo steak, and seafood Cajun platters for just Dh36, complete with rice and iced tea. The new offerings are a continuation of what Naderang has always stood for—delicious, affordable Filipino food that feels like home. Naderang’s edge lies in its roots. Pampanga, known as the “culinary capital of the Philippines,” is home to recipes passed down through generations. Galang says her mother’s meticulous attention to taste and presentation inspired their menu. “Our food is not just about filling the stomach, it’s about creating memories, comfort, and joy,” Galang said. “We wanted Filipinos here in the UAE to feel a piece of home every time they sat at our table.” Naderang Restaurant is located along King Faisal Road, Sharjah.
