DUBAI – A new bridge spanning 1,270 metres is opening in Dubai in January to ease traffic in one of Dubai's busiest highways and accommodate up to 4,500 vehicles per hour during peak hours.
The two-lane, one-way Al Khail-Financial Centre Road Bridge will be opened in early January, said Matter Al Tayer, the Director General of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The bridge starts from the intersection of Ras Al Khor Road and Al Khail Road, and crosses over the Dubai Water Canal.
Two lanes extend 480 meters to the existing road to enable direct flow of traffic from Dubai-Al Ain Road to Al Khail Road via the upper deck of the Financial Center Road.
It will provide an entry point for the parking terminal of the extension of Dubai Mall, which is undergoing massive expansion work.
