The Migrant Workers Office (MWO) Dubai and Northern Emirates has implemented a streamlined employment contract verification system for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) effective Thursday (May 1), scrapping the previous appointment-based process in favor of more flexible options. The updated rules, designed to improve efficiency and better manage applicant flow, allow OFWs to choose between two options: online document submission or walk-in verification one working day before their flight. In a statement to Expat Media, Labor Attaché Joh Rio Bautista said the changes aim to “expand the reach of the post’s online contract verification system,” and strongly encouraged OFWs to use the online option to avoid queues. “We highly encourage our kababayans to use the online submission to streamline the process and avoid long queues, especially during peak travel seasons,” Bautista said. The MWO Dubai office, which caters to thousands of Filipinos in the emirates, often experiences high foot traffic, especially around holiday periods and vacation months. Meanwhile, other government services such as OWWA and PAG-IBIG are also now more accessible, as they no longer require prior appointments: • OFWs renewing their OWWA membership (with the same employer) can directly visit the OWWA Dubai office during working hours. • For PAG-IBIG services, walk-ins are accepted without appointment. • However, SSS services still require a scheduled appointment, which must be booked via this link.

Two options are now available for employment contract verification: 1. Online submission 2. Walk-in verification (one day before the confirmed flight) 1. Online submission of documents OFWs based in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain, or Ras Al Khaimah are encouraged to use the online submission system for faster and more convenient processing. Key information: • The submission form opens every Monday at 8am with 800 available slots per week. • The form closes on Wednesday at 11:59pm or once all slots are filled, whichever comes first. • The link is posted weekly on the MWO Dubai website and Facebook page. • Processing time: 11 working days. • Once approved, applicants receive a schedule for document collection and payment of Dh40 at MWO Dubai. • Collection takes approximately 20 minutes. 2. Walk-in verification This option is for OFWs who: • Are flying to the Philippines the next day and were unable to submit documents online. • Have authorized representatives submitting on their behalf. • Are currently in the Philippines and missed pre-departure verification. • Were instructed by MWO Dubai to appear in person. Important walk-in reminders: • If the flight falls on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, OFWs must go to MWO Dubai on the preceding Thursday or Friday. • If the day before the flight is a holiday, visit on the nearest working day prior. Authorized representatives: • Can submit on behalf of an OFW 1–3 days before the OEC appointment in the Philippines, or 2–5 days before the OFW’s return flight to the UAE. MWO Dubai emphasized that the system was designed to reduce congestion and provide more flexibility to Filipino workers. The office continues to explore more digital initiatives to support its growing community of OFWs across the emirates. ICA/Expat Media
