Dubai commuters are enjoying smoother, less crowded journeys thanks to a new service introduced on the Dubai Metro Red Line by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The new direct route between Centrepoint station and Al Fardan Exchange station has boosted the metro’s peak-hour capacity by 12 percent, significantly reducing waiting times and congestion on the busiest corridor. Here are the updated frequencies: • Centrepoint – Al Fardan Exchange: every 2 minutes • Al Fardan Exchange – National Paints (formerly Jebel Ali): every 4 minutes • National Paints – Expo 2020: every 8 minutes • National Paints – Life Pharmacy (formerly UAE Exchange): every 8 minutes The new service operates exclusively during rush hours, from 7am to 9am and 4pm to 7pm. According to the RTA, the direct routes have already improved passenger flow and reduced the need for transfers at Jebel Ali Station, a long-standing choke point. “The direct services have already shown improvements in passenger convenience, reduced train kilometres, and enhanced efficiency across the metro network,” according to the RTA. With the Dubai Metro serving hundreds of thousands daily, the upgrades are expected to make commuting faster and less stressful for residents and visitors. ICA/Expat Media
