A new intercity bus route linking Dubai and Sharjah officially began operations on Friday (May 2), offering a one-way fare of Dh12 as part of efforts to boost public transport connectivity between the two emirates. The new Route E308 connects Dubai's Stadium Bus Station with Sharjah's Al Jubail Bus Station. According to Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the route is part of a broader initiative to improve the public transport network across the UAE. “Enhancing intermodal connectivity is central to positioning public transport as the preferred choice for mobility across the emirate,” said Adel Shakeri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency. In line with the launch of the new route, the RTA also announced changes to 14 other bus routes to streamline service and improve operational efficiency. These include: Route 17: Now terminates at Baniyas Square Metro Station instead of Al Sabkha. Route 24: Modified routing within Al Nahda 1. Route 44: Expanded to serve Dubai Festival City. Route 56: Extended to DWC Staff Village. Routes 66 & 67: New stop added at Al Ruwayah Farm. Route 32C: Shortened; commuters to use Route F27 to reach Al Satwa. Route C26: Now stops at Max Metro Land Side Bus Stop 2. Route E16: Ends at Union Bus Station. Route F12: Rerouted via Kuwait Street; skips Al Wasl Park. Routes F27 & X92: Bus stops moved to Max Metro Land Side. Route F47: Rerouted within Jebel Ali Industrial Area. Route F54: Now serves JAFZA South labor camp. RTA emphasized that these updates are part of its long-term strategy to integrate buses with the Dubai Metro, Tram, and Marine transport systems. ICA/Expat Media
