Azizi Developments has announced plans to build a 725-metre tower on Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road, which will become the second tallest building in the world. The Burj Azizi will be a freehold residential tower with over 131 levels and will be located beside the World Trade Centre metro station. The sales of the apartments are set to begin in February 2025. The main contractor will also be announced soon, and Azizi expects the tower to be completed by 2028. The exact number of available freehold apartments is yet to be determined. Apart from the 725-metre target, the new tower aims to build the highest hotel lobby in the world on level 11, the highest nightclub on level 126, the highest observation deck on level 130, the highest restaurant in Dubai on level 122, and the highest hotel room in Dubai on level 118. The current holder of the "world's second tallest building" title is Kuala Lumpur's Merdeka 118, at 679 meters. While other Dubai developers have discussed their ambitions to claim this title, only Azizi has firmly announced plans to dethrone Merdeka 118 on the spot. The Burj Khalifa remains the tallest building in the world with a height of over 828 meters and more than 160 storeys. It is also the tallest free-standing structure in the world, and holds the record for the highest number of storeys in the world. FLE/Expat Media
