New Dubai tunnel opens on May 3
DUBAI - If you are headed to Al Garhoud Bridge, Al Shindagha Tunnel or Port Rashid this Thursday (May 3), there's good news. A new 8-lane tunnel opens on Sheikh Rashid Road to help you avoid traffic jams in the area. The tunnel is located at the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Road and Sheikh Khalifa Street and has 4 lanes in each direction.The project is part of ongoing infrastructure developments of the Sheikh Rashid and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street intersection. The intersection receives traffic from Al Garhoud bridge, Oud Metha, Sheikh Zayed Road, Bur Dubai and Al Shindagha. “The project is part of RTA’s master plan for the improvement of roads, bridges, crossings and underpasses to accommodate the growing volume of traffic and to ease the traffic in all parts of Dubai,” said Mattar Al Tayer, the director general and chairman of the Road and Transport Authority's executive board.
