UAE inspector general named Interpol president

  DUBAI – The UAE’s inspector general will head the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) for four years as its new president, the global crime fighting agency announced. Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior, won the Interpol presidency for a four-year term. Interpol made the announcement on its official Twitter account. UAE authorities have been actively helping Interpol arrest many big-time criminals and syndicates that are wanted around the world. Last August, alleged drug kingpin Raffaele Imperiale, who is wanted by Italian authorities, was arrested in Dubai where he lived using a fake identity. In July last year, Nigerian scam Hushpuppi was extradited to the US after being arrested in Dubai on charges of cyber fraud and other crimes. ICA/Expat Media
