Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a major expansion project on Sheikh Zayed Road, significantly improving traffic flow and reducing travel times in key areas. The project included the expansion of the service road near Financial Centre Metro Station in the Abu Dhabi-bound direction. The number of lanes increased from three to four, boosting road capacity by 25 percent and accommodating up to 3,200 vehicles per hour, compared to 2,400 previously. “This upgrade has eliminated vehicle queues, improved traffic flow, and cut travel time from five minutes to just two minutes,” said Ahmed Al Khzaimy, Director of Traffic at RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency. The merging distance between Al Khail Road and Financial Centre Street in the Dubai-bound direction was also extended, reducing congestion and cutting journey times by 25 percent. “RTA remains committed to enhancing traffic flow across Dubai through innovative road solutions,” Al Khzaimy added. The upgrade is part of Dubai’s broader efforts to enhance transportation infrastructure and improve road efficiency. ICA/Expat Media
