A major new retail destination is taking shape in Dubai South, with Dubai South Properties announcing the upcoming South Bay Mall, a 200,000-square-foot development that will anchor the heart of the Dubai South Residential District. Construction is expected to begin soon, with the developer stating that details on the opening date and tenant roster will be revealed at a later stage. The company said the mall is intended to serve residents with a wide mix of shopping, dining and leisure options while enhancing overall community living. According to Dubai South Properties, the mall will span three levels and will feature open-air walkways and rooftop terraces overlooking the lagoon. The design aims to offer visitors a relaxed and scenic environment. Once completed, South Bay Mall will house 60 retail outlets, two anchor stores and a premium food hall, along with lifestyle amenities including a gym, spa, clinic, clubhouse and parking for more than 400 vehicles. The developer described the project as a “vibrant and convenient” hub for a growing community that currently lacks dedicated gathering points. “South Bay Mall will become the heart of a lively neighbourhood, bringing together shopping, wellness and leisure experiences,” the company said. The mall forms part of the broader South Bay development, which includes more than 800 villas and townhouses, over 200 waterfront mansions and a one-kilometre lagoon bordered by parks and promenades. The overall master plan has been designed as a fully integrated community focused on wellbeing and connectivity. Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, said the launch of the mall represents “an important step” toward building a fully connected city. He said the project aligns with Dubai South’s ongoing vision of developing vibrant, people-centric communities built for long-term growth. ICA/Expat Media
