New marinas and ferry terminals in Abu Dhabi

A number of new marinas, ferry terminals, and wet and dry berths will be built soon in Abu Dhabi to bolster the capital's maritime sector, officials said on Monday (March 14). At Rabdan, Al Saadiyat Island, and Al Aliah Island, the project will entail the construction of marina facilities and ferry terminals, with all three slated to open by the end of the year. The project will also include the construction of a new ferry port at Jebel Dhanna, with completion due in autumn 2023. Wet and dry berths, as well as broad slipways capable of simultaneous vessel launches, will be available at the new facility. Improved docking facilities, as well as dining and retail space, are also part of the proposals. The new constructions will bring 246 new berths to Abu Dhabi's maritime sector, which is expected to see a considerable boost. Five brand new ferries will be added to the existing ferry fleet, boosting passenger capacity by 70% and vehicle capacity by 40% and improving service to Al Aliah and Dalma islands.
