Renewing your Philippine passport soon? You might be required to bring this

  DUBAI - If you are renewing your Philippine passport in the nearest embassy or consulate soon, you may need to bring a copy of your birth certificate to complete your application. Embassy officials said that the additional requirement--implemented this month--applies to Filipinos whose passports only show their province of birth. Under the new e-system for passport renewal, the passport holder's city or municipality of birth must be indicated. Filipinos whose passports don't show their city or municipality of birth are now required to bring a copy of their birth certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority. Without a birth certificate, passport applications will not be processed, embassy officials said. In the UAE, Filipinos who need to renew their passports need to book an appointment online through the following websites: Dubai and Northern Emirates: https://dubaipcg.checkappointments.com Abu Dhabi: https://auhpe.checkappointments.com or http://abudhabipe.dfa.gov.ph On its website, the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi is urging applicants to book an appointment for passport renewal ten months before their passport is due to expire. The Philippine Consulate Dubai, meanwhile, advises applicants to renew their passports "around nine months before expiration of validity, or when the remaining pages are already few".
