New skatepark to open in Ras Al Khaimah

RAS AL KHAIMAH - The new Skatepark Facility will open in Ras Al Khaimah's Saqr Park in May, according to officials. Construction work on the project began in March, with the development of the skatepark facility to further expand the recreational offering of the largest public park in Ras Al Khaimah. The 620 square metre skatepark will feature a unique design, as the only skatepark within a park in the UAE, built around greenspace in a Ghaf Tree reserve at Saqr Park. The concept incorporated the Ghaf trees in the design to ensure the trees provide natural shading and are well protected. The skatepark will also include various obstacles for skaters of all levels, including a bowl, pyramids, ledges, banks and round rails, that are envisaged to make Saqr Park a one-of-a-kind leisure venue for skateboarding, roller blading and BMX bike riding. "We believe that the new skatepark will offer visitors and most importantly residents of Ras Al Khaimah a new and well equipped outdoor space to enjoy skating in all its forms. This will also give the growing skating community across the UAE another reason to come down to Ras Al Khaimah and enjoy everything it has to offer," said Haitham Mattar, Chief Executive Officer of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority. As skateboarding makes its Olympic debut in 2020, the street sport has successfully emerged and transformed into a globally recognised sport and is now being acknowledged for its positive impact on the youth.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
