The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police announced a new speed limit on parts of Al Amardi Street and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Street on Monday (September 23). The updated speed limits in specific areas will be as follows: - The maximum speed limit on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street will be raised to 100 km/h between Dubai Al Ain Road and Academic City Roundabout. - The maximum speed limit between Academic City Roundabout and Al Khawaneej Street will be increased to 90 km/h. - The speed limit on Al Amardi Street between Al Khawaneej Street and Emirates Road will be standardised to 90 km/h. All of these changes will be effective starting September 30. Traffic signs and road markings will be updated in these areas to reflect the new maximum speed limit. RTA said that this speed limit changes is intended to improve traffic flow and boost road safety on these two roads. Both have been recently upgraded and widened, adding more lanes and improved intersections. Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street has seen several development projects, including improvements to the overpass at Dubai Al Ain Road. The ongoing development work is expected to finish all overpasses by 2030, allowing the enforcement of a 100 km/h speed limit across the entire street. Al Amardi Street has also been widened, with service roads added, and the roundabout at Al Khawaneej Street has been converted into a signal-controlled intersection to enhance traffic flow and safety.
