The UAE has launched a new Artificial Intelligence-powered national platform designed to help students, jobseekers, graduates and educational institutions make smarter decisions about academic and career pathways based on real-time labour market needs. The UAE Skills Platform, launched under the directives of the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, is one of the first integrated national platforms in the region to directly connect labour market intelligence with the education ecosystem. Available through the App Store, Google Play and online via skillz.mohre.gov.ae, the platform is designed for students from early education stages, university undergraduates, graduates, employees seeking professional development, parents, educational institutions, employers and policymakers. It uses AI to analyse jobs, required skills, qualifications and future labour trends, allowing users to build future-ready academic and career pathways based on actual market demand. Students can use the platform to explore suitable university specialisations, assess how well their chosen academic path aligns with labour market requirements, receive recommendations for in-demand skills and certifications, and identify training opportunities to strengthen career readiness. Graduates and professionals can continuously update their skills profiles, access lifelong learning opportunities and pursue specialised certifications aligned with evolving industry requirements. Educational institutions can assess whether their academic programmes match labour market needs and adjust curricula accordingly, while employers can identify critical skill requirements and improve workforce planning. The platform currently serves more than 200,000 students and around 200 educational institutions across the UAE. It is also expected to help develop more than 1,700 future-focused skills through integrated education and labour market data analysis. The system provides customised interfaces for parents, students, jobseekers, institutions and government entities, making it easier for each group to access relevant insights and make informed decisions. According to Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council, human development remains central to the UAE’s long-term growth strategy. He highlighted the importance of aligning skills development with national investments in priority sectors to ensure talent readiness for the future economy and strengthen integration between economic and education policies. Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said enabling individuals through clear academic and career pathways supports the development of a cohesive, learning-driven society capable of contributing to national progress. She said the UAE Skills Platform provides “a practical reference to guide academic and career decision making” by linking education outcomes directly to labour market requirements and economic change.
