With the 46th UAE National Day just around the corner, the Abu Dhabi Police has issued new guidelines for both motorists and pedestrians. The Abu Dhabi Police said that camera and radar monitoring in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Regions will be increased during this period to ensure that traffic flows smoothly and violators will be caught. According to Abu Dhabi Police, motorists may only decorate their vehicles between November 22 and December 6. Car owners, however, must be careful not to commit these violations while decorating: - Change a vehicle’s colour - Add noisy accessories - Cover licence plates - Cover the windscreen To ensure safety, drivers should not carry more than the permitted number of passengers for their type of vehicle and ensure that they do not obstruct traffic, cause a noise disturbance by revving their engines, or drive recklessly. Passengers are warned not to stick out any part of their body from the windows or sunroof of a moving vehicle. Police will also monitor pedestrians for jaywalking and spray painting on drivers.
