Brazilian player signs 5-year contract with French football club

  PARIS – Brazilian player Neymar has signed a five-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) with the French club paying a world record of 222 million euros (US$263 millon) to buy out his contract with Barcelona. On PSG's website, Neymar said he was "extremely happy" to join the French club. PSG announced Neymar's transfer on Thursday and tweeted: "He's coming." Neymar will be presented to the public at Parc des Princes stadium later today (Friday). On its website, PSG came out with a video that starts off with the words "He's coming" followed by samba music and an animation of the Eiffel Tower lit in the Brazilian flag colors. Barcelona, for its part, confirmed it has received payment of 222 million euros from Neymar and said they would forwarding details of the deal to football's governing body Uefa amid accusations that PSG allegedly violated regulations against overspending by soccer clubs. Neymar told Barca he wanted to leave the Spanish club and he was given permission to miss practice to plot his future move. Reports said Neymar wanted to be world's best player but cannot achieve the goal by playing alongside Lionel Messi. Neymar's tansfer move to PSG is the most expensive in the history of the sport, surpassing the US$120 million that Manchester United paid Italian club Juventus to acquire Paul Pogba in August last year.
