No internet? No problem with Sharjah smart bins that offer free Wi-Fi access to the public
SHARJAH - Trash bins now are no longer used solely as storage for garbage. At least in Sharjah.
Ten new smart bins have been installed near tour sites in the emirate to serve as a source for open Wi-Fi access to the public.
The solar-powered bins are also equipped with sensors to detect when the bin is full. The Bee'ah's cleaning and collections service division, Tandeef, takes care of the collection.
The new units represent the first phase of a plan to roll out several hundreds of Wi-Fi bins across Sharjah and the UAE in prominent and high-footfall locations.
