Non-Muslims free to bury dead in Abu Dhabi graveyard

  DUBAI – The Abu Dhabi Municipality has reminded residents that all communities are free to practice funeral and burial rites in the capital. Grave sites have been allocated to each community are religion, said Dr Saeed Mohammed Qarwash Al Rumaithi, director of the public health department at Abu Dhabi Municiaplity. "The burial and funeral services provided by the Department of Public Health to non-Muslims embody the vision of the leadership in respecting people and religions in line with the Year of Tolerance," said Al Rumaithi. The Christian community has been allocated a graveyard in the Baniyas area, which features a shaded area with a water supply for grieving families. Abu Dhabi recently granted licenses to non-Muslim places of worship in a historic ceremony this year.
