Office workers in Downtown Dubai were told to leave their offices early on December 31 ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations at Burj Khalifa. In an email sent to offices in Emaar properties at Downtown Dubai, Emaar urged office workers to “leave your office premises latest by 3pm”. “Traffic in the city on 31st December afternoon can be unpredictable, so we advise you leave your office premises latest by 3 PM, to reach your destination safely and on time. We recommend you plan any deliveries and the likes accordingly for the day,” according to Emaar in an email seen by Expatmedia.net. Emaar also warned of partial road closures in Downtown Dubai. “On December 31, there will be partial road closures in Downtown Dubai from 12pm and complete closure from 6pm. The road closures and traffic management will be under the local authorities and Dubai Police's jurisdiction and is subject to change,” according to Emaar. ALSO READ: 16 best places to watch NYE fireworks in UAE The property developer said that parking in Downtown Dubai will be limited and advised visitors to use public transport to reach Downtown Dubai. “Taxis will have limited access to the area on December 31. Commutation within Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard will be subject to close as soon as it reaches full capacity,” according to Emaar. Emaar promised that this year’s New Year’s Eve in Downtown Dubai “will be a one of its kind and all works are in progress to make it a world class event. To make it a momentous evening, we are doing everything to ensure a smooth and safe evening for all occupants and visitors”. The Burj Khalifa is aiming a new record for the largest laser display, in addition to spectacular fireworks, and synchronized show by The Dubai Fountain to ring in the new year.
