The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) has confirmed that the aerosol dry shampoos and personal care items recalled in the US owing to cancer-causing ingredients are not sold in Abu Dhabi. This followed FDA warnings on certain aerosol personal care items containing hazardous benzene. Due to benzene contamination, Unilever Plc recalled numerous popular aerosol dry shampoo brands, including Dove. Brands such as Nexxus, Suave, Tresemmé, and Tigi, which makes Rockaholic and Bed Head dry shampoos, were included in the recall. Sultan Al Muhairi, director of the QCC's Business Development and Customer Happiness Department, said the market and consumer services sector is closely monitoring cases of commercial product withdrawals from regional and global markets through internationally approved electronic monitoring platforms so the necessary measures can be taken by withdrawing them from local markets.
