OFW Got Talent UAE: 17 Filipinos vie for P150,000 grand prize

DUBAI – Some jawdropping Filipino talents in the UAE are going to take centerstage at the grand finals of OFW Got Talent in Dubai on Saturday (March 5). A total of 17 contestants from the UAE and the Middle East will be vying for the grand prize of P150,000 (Dh10,700) in the maiden edition of the talent contest. A human beatboxer, a magician, an artist, a skater and a singing doctor are joining dancers, balladeers and crooners to wow judges and the audience at Pakistan Auditorium Dubai. Majority of the finalists are from the UAE, with two others from Saudi Arabia and one from Oman. They advanced to the finals after a grueling elimination round in February. “It was a very tough call because all of them were talented. Many of them tied in the score sheet, so we have had to make a difficult decision of selecting the final 17,” said vocal coach and composer Matilyn Bagunu, one of the judges. The finalists are Albelyn Mae Balatero; Alex Weill; Cristoff Aremat; Elisa Manalang and Usher Banson; Gemma Alontaga; Gilbert Patulot; Glenda Mae Baa; Irene Bustamante; Jem Yahoo; Jonar Makiling; Kendra Cristobal; Louis Mariano; Mark Panganiban; Patrick Morales; Richard Rivera; R & R Dancers Renan, Retch and Resty; and Ronald Monato. Expat Media CEO Mars Yabut De los Santos provided heartfelt encouragement to the contestants. “Whatever happens in the finals, the contestants should know they are already winners just by sharing their unique talent to the UAE and the rest of the world,” De los Santos said. OFW Got Talent is organized by UAE Kabayan Souq in cooperation with Purple & Pink Creative Events and Cuizon International Events. It is sponsored by Swatch, LBC Express, Megaworld International, Clairine, WhiteLine Dental Clinic, Platinum Karaoke, Cotton Home, High Profile Advertising, Tita Julies and Refreshments, Filpreneurs, Blends and More and Le Flaire Dubai.
